아프리카 구슬(African Beads) 또 다른 예로, 무역 구슬은 서아프리카 일부 지역에서 수 세기 동안 화폐로 사용되었습니다. 에밀 샌드스테드가 기록한 것처럼, 당시 고대 여행자들에 의해 문서화된 바에 따르면 적어도 1300년대 이전까지 거슬러 올라갑니다.
